This is our view out the sliding glass doors that lead to our balcony. We face our neighbors - they’re only about 10 feet away. It can be a little awkward, and of course I’d love a view of the lake or a cute street or a tree or something, but whatever, it’s a balcony.
Today, for the first time all winter, their curtains are open. And there’s a bike sitting in front of their sliding glass doors. Right in the middle of their living room.
I want to go on the record as being on board with this kind of interior decorating. I like a home where the books displayed are books you’ve actually read and loved - cracked spines, “USED” stickers, ugly covers and all. Where you sit on the furniture - all of it - and actually use the throw pillows and the blankets for naps. Where the plants are real. Where the keyboard bench is askew because someone played it last night. A place that says, “This is where we live. These are the things we use. This is the stuff we need to do what we love.”
